Datadog offered the fastest alerting and turnkey infrastructure monitoring but its running cost exceeded our budget by roughly 4x and its error-tracking depth was weaker; Highlight was the lowest-cost open-source option but not yet production-ready due to source-map failures, slow alerting, and no stable public SDK.
